One of the few surviving proper town pubs left in Liverpool.
The back room of the White Star or news room is where people go for a chat or just to relax and read the papers. At the far end of the back room is the famous Bass mirror 6ftx3ft. All the fixed seats in this room are made from leather hide and are in perfect condition. The walls are decorated with local prints and White Star Shipping Line memorabilia. The bar area is decorated with blackboards for real ale info and more White Star Shipping Line memorabilia. The bar is a very pleasant area to stand and most of the regulars who visit do so. Again seating in the bar is red leather hide in perfect condition and cut glass windows. The music is only background and kept to a level for conversation. There are the fruit machines which you will have to queue for.
The bar is strictly 18 years and over, but it is rare to find anyone under 25 visit regularly. The White Star does not have hot food of any type but it does have delicious fresh meat and salad cobs every day for £1.00. It also has fresh pork pies for 60p each or 2 for £1.00 with brown sauce. The White Star also has Sky television in both rooms for all the live sports events.
The White star also has a very interesting cellar click here for more information.
